CHILDREN’S LITURGY of the WORD INTRODUCED at ST. PATRICK’S
Starting this fall, St. Patrick’s Parish in Milford is inviting all children of the parish, ages 5-10, to participate in the
Children’s Liturgy of the Word as part of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Sundays at 11 am, at St. Patrick’s Church,
High and 4th Street in Milford, PA 18337.
Each Sunday, before the Scripture readings begin, the children are called forward and sent with a blessing to
a separate room for a Gospel lesson. They will hear the same Scriptures that are proclaimed at Mass, but explained
on a level that younger children can understand. The children will return to their family in church after the Creed,
as the Offertory and Liturgy of the Eucharist begins.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of
all Christian practice.” The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is reflective of Jesus’ instruction to “Let the children come to me,
and do not prevent them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).
This new program is being coordinated by catechists Laurie Barcia of Milford and Christine Sell, also of Milford. Parents,
grandparents and guardians are invited to consider volunteering their time in support of this important new program.
Information is available at (908) 451.1206 or (570) 296.7451.
The public is invited to share in a special Lenten presentation of the Living Stations on Friday, March 24th, at 6:30 pm at Saint Patrick’s Church in Milford, PA.

The Living Stations, a depiction of Jesus’ Way of the Cross, from Pilate’s condemnation to Jesus’ crucifixion and burial, will be presented by the students of Saint Patrick’s Children’s Faith Formation Program, with narration by Angelica Barcia of Milford, costumes by Michelle Baron of Milford and music by the Music Ministry of Saint Patrick’s under the direction of Rich Gherardi.
