Q: Can Retrouvaille help us?  
A: The program has helped couples experiencing all levels of difficulty. Some couples without serious problems have reported that the program greatly improved their communication. Other couples experiencing significant crises, even considering or beginning divorce proceedings, stayed together and began to thrive.

Q: Will we be asked to talk about our problems with strangers?  
A: No.  Retrouvaille presenting couples and priests share their experiences but attending couples do not.

Q: How is Retrouvaille different from Marriage Encounter?  
A: Marriage Encounter is designed to make a good marriage better while Retrouvaille is designed for marriages that need additional help. Retrouvaille grew out of Marriage Encounter.

Q: How does Retrouvaille work?
A: Retrouvaille is a three-phase program.

The first phase is a weekend experience that helps couples to establish healthy, meaningful communication to enhance their relationship while gaining new insights into themselves as individuals and as a couple.

The second phase consists of follow-up sessions in which couples delve deeper into potential causes of their issues and how to resolve those issues.  

The third phase consists of monthly gatherings that offer couples a supportive environment in which they learn new techniques to help their marriages continue to heal and grow.

Q: Why is the program called Retrouvaille?  
A: The word “Retrouvaille” means “reunion” in French, specifically a reunion with someone dear to you after a time apart.  The program offers spouses the chance to experience such a reunion.
