Advent Concert Series: A series of classical piano music reflections will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, that will focus on the Baroque Era, the Classical Era, and the Romantic Era.
The first recital will take place on Sunday, December 1, at 10 a.m. and will feature the Baroque Era of classical music and will feature preludes, fugues, and other works by Johann Sebastian Bach. The second recital will be on Sunday, December 8, at 10 a.m. It will feature excerpts of piano sonatas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven, among others. Finally, the third recital, to be held on Gaudete Sunday, December 15, at 10 a.m., will illustrate the romantic era of classical music and feature the works of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov and German composer Johannes Brahms.
These recitals will be performed by Mr. Anthony J. George, Jr. who serves as the Parish Music Director/Organist in Dupont, and studied piano performance under renowned concert pianist, Thomas Hrynkiw.
All are welcomed to attend this free Advent concert series prior to Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass.
An Autumn Bake Sale will be held in the hall of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, on Saturday, October 26 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 27 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Some gluten free options will be available. There also will be 50/50 and basket raffles.
Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition: In response to the United States Catholic Bishops call for a National Eucharistic Revival to enkindle belief and a living relationship with Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, a Vatican approved Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles from around the world will be held in the hall of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, on Saturday, October 26 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 27 from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
This Eucharistic Exhibition presents some of the principal Eucharistic Miracles that took place throughout the ages in various countries of the world, and which have been recognized by the Church. By means of the posters, one can virtually visit the places where the miracles took place.
A Fall Theology Series will be held in the Sacred Heart of Jesus School of Religion, 219 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, for adult learners on Wednesdays October 23, 30 and November 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. Former Lutheran pastor Bill Jones will conduct the classes. Oct. 23, “Mary is: the Mother of God; Our Lady; and much, much more.” This presentation will discuss the Protestant myths about the Mother of Our Lord and the Jewish biblical roots of Mary. Oct. 30, “The Koran and Its References to Jesus, Mary and Christians.” This class will explore passages from the Koran that refer to these themes. Nov. 6, “Modernism: The Unknown Threat.” This class will discuss the meaning of modernism and why it has been called the “synthesis of all heresies.” The presentation will expand on its influence upon the Church and society, and our relationship with God. All are invited to attend this free series.
Cemetery Sunday devotions will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27, beginning at 1 p.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont. It will begin with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the praying of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. After Solemn Benediction and Reposition, a procession will form to the cemetery while the faithful sing the Litany of the Saints. The faithful who cannot walk in the procession may drive to the cemetery. The cemetery will be blessed and visitation of the graves by the faithful will follow. Traditional Polish, Latin and English hymns will be sung.

Dr. Larry Chapp will speak at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church; 215 Lackawanna Avenue; Dupont, PA 18641, on Wednesday, April 24, at 6:30PM. His topic is “The Universal Call to Holiness in Our Times”.
Dr. Chapp received his doctorate in theology from Fordham University. He taught theology at DeSales University and co-founded the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm. He is a renowned author of many articles with the National Catholic Register and Catholic World Report, among other critically acclaimed periodicals. He is also author of many books, YouTube and podcast host, and chief author for the blog, Gaudiumetspes22.com. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served; please join us.
