Catholic Parishes from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties Present Wise Men Still Seek Him, an Advent Service of Word and Song
Four Roman Catholic parishes in northeastern Pennsylvania are continuing an annual tradition of collaborating to present two special services during the upcoming Advent season. Wise Men Still Seek Him, an Advent service of word and song, will be presented in locations in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties on Thursday, December 5 and Wednesday, December 11.
Both services are free and open to the public.
The first service will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 5 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith Street, Dunmore. The second is set for Wednesday, December 11 at Holy Family Parish Church, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, also beginning at 6:30 PM.
This year marks the fifteenth year of this remarkable collaboration among the parishes to enhance the joyful anticipation of Christmas in two counties. The music for the service features the combined choir of more than 40 voices from Holy Family Parish, Luzerne and St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Kingston (Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor); and the Dunmore parishes of Saints Anthony and Rocco and Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Rev. David P. Cappelloni, Pastor), as well as several soloists and an instrumental ensemble. Linda Houck, Joseph Moffitt, and Geri Seitzinger are the parish Directors of Music who collaborate to present the service.
Wise Men Still Seek Him offers those who participate an opportunity to embrace the season of Advent and its spirit of preparation for Christmas through Scripture readings and musical selections.
For more information about these events, please contact the parish office at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne (570-287-6600), Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore (570-346-7429), or Saints Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore (570-344-1209).
