Brief Description of Job:

JOB TITLE: Ministry Team Assistant FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE
DEPARTMENT: Parish Life
REPORTS TO: Director of Discipleship

Primary Purpose: The Ministry Team Assistant for the Office for Parish Life will assist the Diocesan Ministry Team in the event management, logistical planning and communication of all ministry events sponsored and hosted by the Office for Parish Life.  These events include but are not limited to:

  • Catechetical and Youth Retreats, Conferences and Rallies (such as Confirmation Retreats, Discipleship Retreats, Diocesan Youth Rally, National Catholic Youth Conference, Steubenville Youth Conferences)
  • Family Life and Young Adult Events (such as Wedding Anniversary Mass, Rosary Rally, and Retreats)
  • Pontifical Masses executed by the Office for Parish Life
  • Youth Ministry and Young Adult social media and communication content creation and management
  • Assist the formation of catechists, Catechetical Leaders and Youth Ministers through the Catechetical Institute at Franciscan University of Steubenville learning platform
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned

Essential Diocesan Functions:

  • Assist in planning and executing the logistics of large-scale events
  • Engage with and support the Ministry Team for Youth and Young Adult Events
  • Increase engagement on diocesan social media platforms for both Youth and Young Adult Ministry through content creation and promotional strategies
  • Assist in roll out of the Catechetical Institute in the Diocese of Scranton by:
    • Reviewing course tracks and determining how to roll out the tracks in tiers with guidance and support of the OPL Ministry Team
    • Facilitating onboarding for new learners

The Ministry Team Assistant will directly report to the Director of Discipleship for general time management and office support.  The Ministry Team Assistant will also work closely with and in support of the entire Ministry Team on program specific tasks.

General office training will be provided, including how to create templates, how to use Microsoft Teams or other office-related tasks, in a friendly environment that welcomes inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Required or Preferred:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills are required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with communication platforms and the ability to create content is preferred
  • Experience with Canva and/or Adobe is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams or other Project Management Systems is preferred

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree is required, Bachelor degree is preferred
  • Experience in a Catholic parish or institution is preferred
  • Disposition of a Missionary Disciple is preferred

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

  • Duties may require extensive travel including evening and weekend meetings or events, thus regular driving and a valid driver’s license are required
  • Must be able to carry 25lbs for short periods of time
