College Students/Young Adults:

 

  • For Men (18-40)
    • Discernment group for men (aged 18-40) on Wednesdays once a month at 8:30PM via web conferencing. Open conversations, guest speakers, etc. For more information and/or to register, contact the Vocation Office at vocations@dioceseofscranton.org.
    • Project Andrew Dinner, an opportunity to connect with Bishop Bambera, seminarians and other men for a meal and conversation. This event is held during the Christmas season.
    • “Come and See”, a weekend retreat with priests and seminarians of the Diocese of Scranton to learn more about a vocation to the Diocesan Priesthood (October 28-29, 2022 at Holy Family Spiritual Renewal Center, Nanticoke. Click HERE to register.)
    • College Discernment Groups, once a semester the Vocation Team will visit each college campus to celebrate Mass and go for a meal.
    • Seminary Visits, you can schedule a visit to the seminary at any time by reaching out to Father Alex Roche.
  • For all college students/young adults (18-40)
    • Parish involvement (Youth Adult Ministry, Sacristan, Music Ministry, CCD Teacher/Aide, Vacation Bible School, volunteer at parish fundraisers, etc.)
    • Leave a Mark, a gathering of the young church with Bishop Bambera to kickoff National Vocation Awareness Week in the Diocese of Scranton. The gathering consists of Mass in the Cathedral of Saint Peter at 5PM followed by an interactive reception in the Diocesan Pastoral Center. This is usually held the first Sunday in November. (2022 Date- November 6, 5PM Mass- Cathedral of Saint Peter, Scranton followed by a social in the Diocesan Pastoral Center)
    • Eucharistic Adoration, the evening incudes a speaker, music, the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and a social.

    • World Day of Prayer for Vocations, a opportunity to pray for an increase in vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life in our parishes and schools. A Diocesan Celebration is held with Bishop Bambera in one of the four Episcopal regions. (2022 Date- May 8)
    • Young Adult Retreat, formerly the “Bold Choices Retreat” will be held twice a year (one in person and one virtual). The retreat will include interactive presentations, small group discussion, Eucharistic Adoration, optional Spiritual Direction, Mass, opportunity to connect with other young adults, and more!
      • (2022 Date- March 25-26 at Holy Family Spiritual Renewal Center, 151 Old Newport Street, Nanticoke)
    • Theology On Tap, an evening at Sabatini’s Bottleshop in Exeter with a guest speaker, pizza, and your beverage of choice. You must be 21 and older to attend.

    • Pints with Priests, for young adults (21 and older) to connect with Priests for a little bit of fun and theological/spiritual conversation right from the comfort of your own home. To register for the Zoom link, email Shannon-Kowalski@dioceseofscranton.org. (Next gathering: February 22 at 7PM)
    • Virtual Bible Study, led by Father Alex Roche and/or our Assistant Vocation Directors. Past studies included: 1 Thessalonians, Revelation, Acts of the Apostles, a Biblical Walk through the Mass.
