St. Francis Commons provides transitional housing to homeless veterans for a period of up to 24 months.  An individualized Action Plan is completed with each resident shortly after admission that outlines the goals each veteran would like to accomplish during their stay.  Goals, with measurable objectives, are generally set in regards to: Income, Employment,  Substance Abuse, Education, Mental Health, Physical Health, Relationships, Life Skills, Legal, and Housing.

The facility is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.  The facility 30 individualized housing units with private bathrooms, as well as community kitchens, dining rooms, laundry rooms and TV lounges.  The program contracts directly with the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, which also provides a wide array of services to the residents of St. Francis Commons as well.

The facility assists with transportation assistance, nutritional needs, clothing assistance, and case management.  Permanent/sustainable housing is always the end goal, and is typically achieved through: Public Housing, Section 8, VASH, Private Housing, or Permanent Supportive Housing.
