The Canticle of Creation: A Franciscan Retreat on the 800th Anniversary

Holy Dormition/St. Care Secular Franciscan Fraternity will hold its annual spiritual retreat on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public; no preregistration is required. The Retreat will take place at St. John Bosco Church, 573 PA State Rte. 93 in Sugarloaf, PA, 18249. 

The retreat celebrates St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of Creation, a poetic hymn praising God through nature’s beauty. Written in 1225, we celebrate its 800^th anniversary. Its ecological and spiritual depth inspires humility, gratitude, and reverence for the interconnectedness of all life.

The Retreat will be given by Fr. James Carroll, OFM, Pastor of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Mahanoy City.
