The Catholic Light

The Catholic Light is the official journal of the Diocese of Scranton. As such, the publication of notices, regulations and extra-synodical decrees in the paper constitutes legal promulgation for all the faithful of the Diocese of Scranton, Clergy and Laity. Our mission, of course, goes far beyond legal promulgation. We strive to present news relevant to our community of faith in both its pastoral ministry and its work of evangelization. That includes the doctrine of the Catholic Church and the teachings of our Bishop. We also present national and international news concerning the Catholic faith.

We do not accept unsolicited articles, columns or letters. Advertising is accepted. We reserve the right to review advertisements for content and suitability.

The Catholic Light is published every three weeks on Thursday. It is mailed to more than 45,000 readers. Contributors to the Diocesan Annual Appeal receive the paper at no charge. Individuals may also purchase a subscription for $10 a year. The paper can also be viewed on this website.
