POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Safe Environment Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Office of Human Resources
REPORTS TO: Diocesan Secretary for Human Resources
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Exempt
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Diocesan staff member charged with implementation, maintenance, and oversight of the Safe Environment Program in accordance with the requirements set forth within the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People promulgated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Theology or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in position of leadership within a large, complex organization.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Practicing Catholic with good understanding of the church’s structure and terminology
- Knowledge of the nature of child abuse
- Excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer proficiency particularly with Office365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Familiarity in Web Design/WordPress a plus
- Capable of working independently
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and compassion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point a plus
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the eleven counties of the Diocese of Scranton
- Possess a high degree of flexibility to achieve objectives and meet goals
