Mission Statement
The mission of the Safe Environment Advisory Committee of the Diocese of Scranton is to ensure the highest standards of safety for our children, youth and vulnerable adults.
Purpose
The purpose of the committee is to provide recommendations, support, feedback and educational opportunities regarding Safe Environment policies, practices and processes to the Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton and/or his delegate.
Value Statement
We are devoted to the care and protection of children, youth and vulnerable adults by following the teachings of the Catholic Church and upholding the values of human dignity, integrity, mutual respect, servant leadership, and accountability.
While we strive to offer protection from danger and unsafe situations, a safe environment within our context also reflects the reality that the church sees itself as a “sacred space” where one finds protection, security, support, guidance, and the presence of God. We will strive to assist each parish, school and diocesan organization to see that their community lives in a way that is consistent with our mission by fostering environments that not only are safe, but also healthy.
