Ten Commandments Monument Dedication
A monument bearing God's Ten Commandments has been installed on the grounds of Holy Cross High School (Dunmore Campus). An official dedication of the monument will be held on Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. Following the dedication ceremony, a light reception will be held in the school auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
The monument was acquired through the generosity of Alan Goldstein, a Clarks Summit resident and member of Temple Israel in Scranton, and in cooperation with the Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Diocese of Scranton.
“We are most grateful to Mr. Goldstein for this unique donation, encouraging all people to lives of charity, peace and justice, the fruits of faithfulness to God's laws,” said Father Philip Altavilla, V.E., Diocesan director of ecumenism and interfaith affairs.
The monument was ordered through Project Moses, a national non-profit organization committed to re-establishing respect and appreciation for the Ten Commandments. Project Moses seeks to make God's Ten Commandments more widely known, more deeply understood more ardently revered and more faithfully followed. For more information on Project Moses, visit: www.projectmoses.com.
All clergy and religious, Diocesan officials and other interested individuals are welcome to attend the June 11 dedication ceremony.

Days of Reflection on the Eucharist
“Our Journey to the Eucharist” is the topic of several Days of Reflection to be held at various locations in the Diocese in June.
Offered by the Diocesan Office for Parish Life, these presentations are designed to help participants come to experience the Eucharist as the “source and summit” of our faith. The Reflection Day is open to all and is highly recommended for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and for those involved in the sacramental preparation of the young. The day’s program includes celebration of Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Days of Reflection will be held: June 7 –– 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter Church, Wellsboro, presented by Father James Dougher; June 7 –– 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Ann Church, Shohola, presented by Father Thomas Major; June 14 –– 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Fatima Renewal Center, Dalton, presented by Father Christopher Sahd; and June 21 –– 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Church, Great Bend, presented by Father Alfred Vito.

Enthronement Guild to Host Annual Sacred Heart Mass
The Diocesan Sacred Heart Enthronement Guild announces its annual Mass in celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be offered on Thursday, May 29, at 4:30 p.m. in the IHM Center at Marywood University. Father Daniel Toomey, spiritual moderator of the Enthronement Guild, will serve as principal celebrant.
Featured speaker for the dinner and program to follow will be Jesuit Father Patrick Mohr, Ph.D., who will also concelebrate the Mass. Father Mohr’s talk, “The Intention of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,” will offer insights into the value of devotion to the Sacred Heart.
A native of Ridgeway, Father Mohr entered the Society of Jesus in 1957. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., and received a doctorate in philosophy from Georgetown University in 1974.
Following his ordination as a Jesuit priest in 1975, Father Mohr has been teaching philosophy at The University of Scranton, where since 1991 he has served as a professor. A past executive editor of the journal Ultimate Reality and Meaning, he has also served on the Board of Directors of the Scranton Chapter of Pennsylvanians for Human Life.
The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart Apostolate enables individuals and families to consecrate their homes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Homes that have been enthroned become an extension of the liturgy, whereby members can follow up their Eucharistic devotion in Church with further prayerful devotion in their homes.
For more information on Sacred Heart Enthronement or to make reservations for the annual dinner, please call Immaculate Heart of Mary Sister Celesta Sinisi at 570-330-0248.
