Prayer to Saint John Neumann

Merciful Father, You have given me all that I have in this world, even life itself.  In all my daily needs, help me to remember the needs of others too.  Make me aware of the need to pray to You not just for myself but for the Church, the Pope, for the clergy and for people who suffer any need.

Make me selfless as Saint John Neumann was.  Throughout my life, give me the grace to direct my first thoughts to the service of You and of others.  Make my prayer – “Your will be done” knowing that in Your mercy and love, Your will for me is my sanctification.

Saint John Neumann, you helped organize Catholic education in the United States.  Please watch over all Catholic schools and help them be a model of Christianity in their actions as well as their words.

I ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen

DATA TABLES
STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
DIOCESE OF SCRANTON

The following data tables were compiled for reference as part of the planning process for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Scranton.  The data was compiled using numbers provided by pastors, principals and other appropriate parish personnel. These tables are being used for analysis of current trends and for reference as plans are developed.

Evaluation of Catholic schools requires attention be given to more than hard numbers, but also intangible issues like school reputation, school culture, history, quality of education, and so on.  A fair evaluation requires many facts to be taken together, reaching beyond the data presented here.

The data has been checked carefully and we believe the totals, averages and trends are reliable indicators for planning.

STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
DIOCESE OF SCRANTON

Strategic Planning Process for Schools Includes Local Consultative Groups

Local Consultative Groups from every Catholic school in the Diocese were invited to a meeting on April 6 at
Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre, for a briefing on the Diocesan Strategic Planning Process.
These groups, which have been organized for each school, consist of representatives from the school and/or its supporting parish(es).

Auxiliary Bishop John M. Dougherty, Vicar for Administration, opened the meeting with a prayer and introductory remarks.

The briefing was then conducted by Sister Mary Anne Heenan, C.S.J., from Meitler Consultants.  She provided an overview of the strategic planning process, emphasizing that it is still in the very early stages and no conclusions or decisions have been determined. The Local Consultative Groups will be part of the entire process, she said, and their input will be essential in developing a strategic plan for Catholic education in the Diocese.

The Local Consultative Groups were asked to review several questions and return their responses to the Diocese.

The following document relates to the strategic planning process for the Diocese of Scranton:
