Meeting for Teacher Representatives
October 3, 2007

Since November 2006, the Diocese of Scranton has been engaged in an ongoing dialogue with teacher representatives from the schools in Lackawanna, Wayne and Luzerne Counties.

The latest meeting in this dialogue with teacher representatives was held on October 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Parish Center in Scranton. Teacher representatives from every school in the Holy Cross and Holy Redeemer Regional Systems were invited to this meeting. The teacher representatives were chosen by their fellow faculty members in their respective schools.

As with the previous meetings, this was not a negotiating session, and no one was asked to sign any type of contract or agreement. This was an information and listening session whereby James Burke, Diocesan director of human resources, addressed questions raised by the teachers.  Kathleen Hanlon, director of the Holy Cross Regional System, and Susan Dennen, director of the Holy Redeemer Regional System, were also present to answer questions about educational issues.

This dialogue continues the Diocese’s commitment to collaborate with our dedicated faculty to achieve the goal of providing a quality Catholic education to the young people of the Diocese of Scranton.
