Diocese Providing Aid To Haiti

As soon as the devastation caused by the earthquake became known, Cardinal Justin Rigali, Apostolic Administrator, authorized a special collection in all parishes of the Diocese that weekend. As of today, that collection has raised $428,115. Reports are still coming in from some parishes. Contributions can also be made directly to:

Haiti Relief Fund

In addition, Diocesan Catholic schools have been raising funds for relief efforts. Proceeds from the Diocesan collection will be sent to Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the U. S. Catholic Church. 

The I.H.M. Haiti Outreach Project is also accepting donations to help quake victims. Contributions can be sent to:

The I.H.M. community is sponsoring evenings of prayer for Haiti on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Holy Cross High School in Dunmore and on Feb. 11 at the I.H.M. Center on the Marywood University campus. For more details, call the I.H.M. Center at 342-6850. 

The Pontifical Mission Societies in the U.S. have established a Haitian Solidarity Fund to help the Catholic Church to rebuild and restore its infrastructure in Haiti. For information and to contribute, call 1-800-431-2222 or visit www.givetothemissions.org 

Cardinal Rigali has expressed his profound gratitude to the people of the Diocese for all of their charitable efforts on behalf of Haiti, and he asks that all faithful continue to pray for the Haitian people and those that are providing assistance.
