Bishop
Appoints Diocesan Implementation Commission
Bishop Martino has appointed a Diocesan
Implementation Commission to assist in
accomplishing the implementation of his
Called to Holiness and Mission
directives and ongoing parish planning.
The Commission is advisory to him. It is
made up of clergy, religious and lay people.
The members of the Implementation Commission
include some members from the former
Diocesan Planning Commission, and other
priests, deacons, religious and lay people
representative of various areas and
constituencies in the Diocese. The normal
term of the appointment will be three years
staggered for continuity, unless determined
otherwise by the Bishop.
The Diocesan Implementation Commission
fulfills the following purposes:
1.
Clarifies the how and when of ongoing
accountability for the implementation of the
Bishop’s directives;
2.
Ensures that the clusters and parishes have
the resources and training they need to
successfully accomplish their goals;
3.
Reviews all reports and monitors the
progress being made, including the offering
of direction when further steps need to be
taken, when conflicts arise, or as
circumstances change;
4.
Expresses acknowledgement and appreciation
for successful ongoing implementation to the
clusters and others who may have been
involved;
5.
Considers and seeks Diocesan staff resources
and training to the needs of the clusters
and parish leaders;
6.
Ensures appropriate communication with the
Bishop’s other advisory bodies, Diocesan
offices and agencies, by the parish clusters
with regard to implementation and initiating
future planning;
7.
Ensures that implementation and future
planning is mindful of all the parishes,
schools and cemeteries of each cluster which
might be affected by cluster decisions.
The Bishop has appointed Monsignor Vincent
J. Grimalia V.G., director of Called to
Holiness and Mission, as chair of the
Diocesan Implementation Commission. He
appointed Monsignor Joseph Bambera and
Sister Jane Gaughan, I.H.M. as vice
chairpersons and Deacon Edward Kelly and
Deacon Joseph Roinick as secretaries.
Diocesan departments and staff will provide
assistance to the Commission as needed.
The Commission will meet regularly on an
as‑needed basis and may schedule extended
periods of time to meet. The Commission will
make recommendations to the Bishop about the
structure of parish clusters and ministry
needs in the future, after appropriate
consultation with Diocesan advisory bodies,
offices, and agencies.
