Beginning Experience Weekend Set For July 21-23

Preparations are underway for the next Beginning Experience Weekend. On July 21-23, men and women who have lost a spouse through death, divorce or separation will meet at St. Gabriel’s Retreat House in Clarks Summit.

The loss of a spouse, one of life’s most traumatic experiences, can result in nearly unbearable feelings of loneliness and grief. The Beginning Experience weekend program creates an atmosphere of care and concern that helps grieving persons emerge from darkness of grief into renewed hope.

Founded by a Catholic nun and rooted in the Christian tradition, the ministry’s open, ecumenical spirit serves those of all faiths. From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, the Beginning Experience program is presented by a team of people who have suffered the loss of a loved one and are willing to share their own experience.

The weekend consists of talks given by team members followed by personal private reflection and small-group sharing. It is a healing journey through which a deep sense of community develops.
