Holy Childhood Association, A Pontifical
Mission Society in the U.S.
Helping Children…
The Missionary Childhood
-
For over 165
years, HCA’s children have been carrying out
the mission of the Church, Christ’s
mission. Children in our country and
children in countries all over the world –
praying, sharing, learning, and loving one
another as members of the Holy Childhood
Association.
What a
wonderful revelation for children when they
come to understand the meaning of their
baptism! You and I and the children – all
baptized Catholic/Christians - called to be
missionary, to reach out and share our faith
and the love that Jesus gives us every day
of our lives.
When we
were in Eureka, California in July, on our
annual mission experience with high school
students and seminarians, a homeless man was
surprised to see that we were a Catholic
group. He told Fr. Walsh that he thought
Catholicism was dead and only Mormons and
Pentecostals did mission work! Our high
school students had an opportunity to share
their faith – and be a witness to that faith
with a fallen-away Catholic.
It is so
important that children be given the
opportunity to make a special commitment in
their missionary life - to take ownership of
their call to be missionary – above all,
while they are in elementary school.
By
enrolling in HCA’s Membership Program,
students become “ambassadors for Christ.”
They can learn more about the world around
them through the newsletter, It’s Our
World, and what they can do for their
brothers and sisters all over the world.
