My Dear Friends in Christ,

In the three years since I’ve been bishop of this Diocese, I’ve seen generosity on so many fronts by so many people. It is precisely this generosity that helps us to fulfill God’s plan and do good for others by serving and helping so many people in so many ways through our Diocesan Annual Appeal.

We live out our faith by doing acts of love (Gal. 6:2). When you make a prayerful decision to support our Annual Appeal you become an example of our faith in action. Your faith and your financial support make it possible for the good works of the Diocese of Scranton to continue.

Your gift is shared with tens of thousands of people throughout the eleven counties that make up the Diocese of Scranton. It brings our Lord’s presence to every Catholic in our Diocese. It helps to heal, educate, inspire and otherwise improve the lives of children and adults across our Diocese.

For example, our Department of Education shares Christ’s good news with the nearly 12,500 students in our 40 Catholic elementary schools and eight high schools; and more than 45,000 students in our parishes’ religious education programs.

Whether it is making sure the needs of our retired priests are met, or recruiting, training and forming seminarians who will become our future priests, your support of the Diocesan Annual Appeal helps to fulfill God’s plan and do good for others.

Please join us by making a gift to this year’s Diocesan Annual Appeal.

On behalf of the thousands of families and individuals who benefit from our Diocesan Annual Appeal, thank you.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Joseph F. Martino, D.D., Hist. E.D.
Bishop of Scranton
